Big Bear Lake

Alpine Pedal Path- north end of lake

directions:  I recommend parking at either Juniper Point parking area or at the boat ramp off of Highway 38.  These areas have access to the flattest part of the trail.

- a paved  3.5 mile multi-use/bike path

- beautiful hike through the woods and down to the lake front.  I loved this hike because I really enjoy hiking in the woods, but it's not for all wheelchair hikers.

- Trail includes a lot of elevation change which may make it inaccessible to self-propellers. Do not attempt to hike this trail alone if you use a wheelchair.

- you need to have an adventure pass to park in the forest parking lots- you can purchase this at the Discovery Center on the north side of Highway 38

- If you have a strong pusher, you can hike from the bike rack area at the Discovery Center down through the woods to the Cougar Crest Trailhead  and continue via the pedestrian tunnel under Highway 38. However, there is a 12% downhill grade slope, so I don't recommend it.

- accessible restrooms are located at the Discovery Center

- warning:  the drive up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead is really windy.  If you get carsick, this is not for you.
