Scotland

Thank you very much to Linda from Scotland for recommending the following five hikes.  She also notes that "Walking on Wheels is an excellent book which gives walks all over Scotland which can be accessed by scooter/wheelchair."

Lochore Meadows Country Park in Lochore, Fife

Thank you to Linda for this great detailed information.

- The park "has a network of virtually no gradiant paths. There are 2 disabled toilets, one in the main park building, and a much nicer one with ample room in the foyer of the watersports centre. The watersports centre, can by arrangement, offer canoeing, sailing etc. for people who have mobility challenges, including a hoist to help people gain access to craft and have a wheelchair accessible fishing boat. There are mobility scooters, which are free to use. It is a beautiful place for a day out or even if you just have an hour to spare. Main park centre has a cafe. Please note that if you do the walk around the loch there are 6 lever operated gates and anticlockwise direction when walking makes 4 of them a push gate."

Falkland Estate- Lamond Hills Regional Park, Fife

recommended by Linda

- "Park in car park just before the estate, lots of tarmac/hard packed level paths near carpark.  Alternatively, park at the Pillars of Hercules (really nice organic food cafe) and if facing the cafe, a tarmac road along to the left runs for approx 2 miles (with a scooter you can go further as after that there is an off road cycle route). "

- "Cafe has accessible toilet and within Falkland itself there are public toilets"
